On my home network I have 1 Desktop PC with Windows 10, a Laptop with Windows 10 as well as an Apple iMac with OS X 10.6.8
I am sharing files with all 3 machines and on the laptop I can see all 3 of them but not from the Desktop. I can also see all the PC's from teiMac. I also share printers on both the iMAc and the Desktop. On the Desktop PC I cannot see the iMac but can print to a printer which is hardwired to the Mac. What do I need to do in order to see the Mac on the home network tree from the Desktop?
I am able to share all 3 machines on the network. Can you please advise how I can delete previous attachments and make room for new ones so I can forward jpegs to better show what I mean?
So you can access files on the Mac from the Desktop PC, you just can't see it? There are a number of possible fixes for that. One is to create a Mapped Drive to the Mac share.
I created a mapped drive to the Map share and this worked. What I was unable to do was what is shown on the attached screen captures. One where I can see the Mac (BRIANSCOMPUTER) and one where I cannot.
The only thing I can think of to try next would be to check ALL of the various network settings and protocols that are in use on one of the machines that is working correctly and compare the settings on the non-working machine to see if anything is different or missing.
