    Computer shuts down, then whistles

I'm using Win7 64 Home Pro, Gigabyte mobo, 8gigs RAM, two internal HDs of 1 TB each, etc etc. Somewhat old machine, about five years. Well cared for.
Twice in the last two days my computer has spontaneously shut down and then begun emitting a whistle. Beepbeep beep. Yikes. Not good. Is it overheating? Improper air circulation? This is a new one on me. When I restart everything seems OK. I clean up the interior, dust it out, cleared the fan vents, etc. My side fan has been blocked a bit for a while. No more
    .

    Thanks

    Arthur

    Here are the beep codes.

Can you figure out what it was by that.

That's extremely helpful. If I get another shutdown I'll listen to the sequence. I did a thorough cleaning of connectors, etc and it hasn't gone down again. Thanks.

I clean my fan blades using 70+% alcohol and something like q-tips. It does not take much build up to really cut the air flow.

I need to get in there with those q tips. I was Q-tipping out the chip's heat sink but didn't pay enough attention to the fan blades. Haven't had another one of those shut-downs, though.
It's been hot here and the computer's on the floor in a major dust collector.

Well, when i lived in the Seattle area, I had to clean mine every 3 weeks.

Here, once a year is more than plenty.

    Good luck!
