Resolved [RESOLVED] Question on new video card.

I bought this card in May:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Didn't look at it that closely but last night when I tried to install it, I see the part that fits in the PCI-e slot, is shorter than my other card. And though it fits the slot, it's too short to fit my motherboard which is a full ATX.

Any clue why it's short and fat and doesn't fit properly?

    It is a x8 - 8 lanes PCI-Express card instead of X16.
    found this
I was / am using this card in a Micro-ATX motherboard and in a small, very crowded, case, so this card being SHORT and "petite" was very crucial.

Thanks Jim. And it's too late to return it. I don't own any microATX motherboards either. So, I'd guess my only option would be sell it on craigslist.

Or plug it in and use it.

I still don't understand what you mean by too short for an ATX board. Just put it in the x16 PCIe slot. It won't fill the entire slot because it is an x8 card.

I plugged it in, it doesn't fit to the side of the motherboard. It's about an inch short of reaching outside the case.

    This motherboard:

You know that the first part of the slot on the video card doesn't go into the PCIe slot, right? That first tab should be outside of the PCIe slot.

Well, of course. This isn't the first PCI-e card I've installed ya know.

I still don't see how it would be that short. Something is not adding up. PCIe slots are standardized. It should be the same on Full and Mini ATX. Maybe it's an issue with your case, not the motherboard.

Actually it was an issue with the user.....

I have another mobo here exactly the same though a bit on the dead side, I pulled that one out of the box, sat it on top of the mobo box and plugged in the Video card. And you're right, it fitindid.

Now I'm tired so I'll change them out tomorrow.

I couldn't figure out why it wasn't fitting either, to me it didn't make sense.
