No display on monitor
The monitor does display the 'no signal' message so I know it works and everything was fine last time I used the machine.
Nothing has been installed between when it worked and when it didn't. I have not yet tried Safe Mode but if I do get in, what should I look for? If the driver can be updated, should I update it? What else?
Thanks - rev

Generally, I found removing and replugging in the video cable 3 or 4 times tends to clean the contacts and things work again.

I did that - and it worked.
The probably cause was that Windows Update got to my machine even though it was set to OFF. It created a new user, it installed Windows Defender and stripped out my Windows activation (which was genuine). Updates were set to off but I had forgotten to disable the service.
Why the monitor wouldn't work and then started working without me doing anything is a mystery.
