Mozilla
I am using Mozilla's Thunderbird for email. My problem is : when I read an email, the next one then opens automatically. I like to pick out the ones that I read next not necessarily in the order they are listed. Is there a setting I can use to have the email open only when I click on it? Looked at all the help sections in Mozilla and Thunderbird and didn't find the answer. Can anyone help?

jdc, thank you so much. The links were indeed useful. That problem was very irritating so I'm very grateful
that you knew of a fix. Thanks again.

I hate it when programmers design a user interface to work the way they want it to without considering how someone else might want to use it.
I have the reading pane disabled on my e-mail client program as well.
