Random reboots that somehow involve a usb port issue (Win 10 x64)
I cannot figure out the issue here, the only things that I find involve the VIA chipsets with no resolution. My ports will either lock up at random or the whole pc reboots.
The mobo is Gigabyte 970A-D3P rev 1.0
I have found this however in my event log
Source: usbehci
Date: 5/14/2017 11:22:04 PM
Event ID: 4
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: mine
Description:
A timeout occurred while waiting for the EHCI host controller Interrupt on Async Advance Doorbell response.
Event Xml:
<Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event">
<System>
<Provider Name="usbehci" />
any help is appreciated.

BlueScreenView might be able to provide some additional information about the issue:

I have no dump file though so that won't help.

Have you checked to see if this still happens when booted into Safe Mode (or Safe Mode with Network Support)?

You never know how long it will be before I reply. Sometimes it takes a while. Just check back on me occasionally.

Something else you may want to consider as a more basic step is to open Device Manager, select your USB hubs and USB devices, right click and select Properties, select the Power Management tab, and uncheck the box for Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.

Ran through those yesterday, I missed one I guess. It has been ok so far yet it ran all last night just fine until I put a strain on the wireless dongle today.

If it is actually a USB device causing the issues, then you may want to check the manufacturer's web site for an updated driver. Connectivity issues with a wireless device that uses a USB dongle should not cause lockups or reboots if the software is done properly.

They have latest drivers. This is a fresh install on a new build. That's the first thing I check for once online.

The new build of Windows 10 could also be the problem, since Microsoft likes to change their mind on how things work, update their code, and let you do the beta testing.

Seems to be holding up but I don't want to speak too soon.

Nope, dongle itself may be causing it. That always drops first. If I catch it and unplug it then plug it back in right away and the pc doesn't restart. I just noticed so I will get another and continue testing.
I had a backup here still boxed. Will let you know what happens.

In that case, it could well be a Bad Dongle.

The issue seems to stem from using netgear dongles. I'm just going to buy a pci-e card tonight. Problem solved. Everywhere I searched this seemed to be a problem from win 8.1 and up with VIA.
I'll post after I get the pci-e card. Bet you that fixes it.
Any suggestions on a decent dual band one?
I was looking at this one here

That one looks like a good choice.
