MOUSE
I have an HP tower running Win 7 with an SSD hard drive. For some reason when it boots up I takes the mouse about a minute before it becomes active.
I never had this before. Is this normal?

Usually, I see that when legacy USB is not enabled in the BIOS.
BUT first
Maybe the contacts are dirty/corroded , try plugging and unplugging the mouse 3 or 4 times, this tends to clean the contacts.
Took 4 tries to get that silly connection last week. I sure like that $10 tailed mouse.
Try another USB port.
Have you tried removing the mouse in Device manager, then reboot.
Windows should pick it up as new equipment and reinstall the drivers.

Train--
You have a mouse with a tail? I want one too! Does it also have a nose?

You're going to laugh. I have arthritis in my wrist, and I don't like to give up comfortable mice till they die. When mine was misbehaving, I opened it up and found lots of cat fuzz inside. Just like the old days with the roller ball.

Understand what you mean about arthritis. Mine is in my knees. <shudder> So I have to walk about a mile a day or wish I had.
Right now I am using the $9 cheap USB mouse that Best Buy sells.
Why the corded type, I do not lose them. and I do travel a lot. And no battery that drops dead on me.
So each of us use what works best for us.
My big fingerers and a laptop touch pad do NOT get along and I have to use a stylus with my phone as everything is just to close together.
Ground the nose off.

I thought yours had a tail in addition to the wire. Which gives me the idea to paint a mouse face on the mouse. I can't use the touchpad either, the angle is wrong. And the mouse on my XP computer is still PS-2.
I've had both knees replaced already. Cheer up, it was fun. I don't think i can post my X-Rays here. And I'm threadjacking the OP's thread. I'll be good and leave.
