    can't install Update KB4014981

    Win 7 Ultimate
Getting error all week: "Error 66A" with Win Update
    "April, 2017 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.5.1, 4.5.2, 4.6, 4.6.1, 4.6.2 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 for x64 (KB4014981)"

Other updates have installed. Did some research.

    One possible solution:

    Another solution?

I'm checking with Vdr before I uninstall anything from my system. This is scarier than uninstalling a program.

Dot Net framework security updates are always a pain.

If you do need to use the cleanup tool, only remove the version 4.x Dot Net Frameworks that you have installed, then try re-installing them from the Microsoft downloads, then try the update again.

This sounds familiar. Can I live without this update?

Can I live without this update?
Probably, but I would not recommend it, since it patches a significant security flaw.
