    Flash Player Error Message

I recently purchased a new Dell laptop with windows 10 pro. I was attempting to retrieve a virtual credit card number from my credit card account and it gives me an error message. It says "this content requires adobe flash player." I tried firefox and chrome and both browsers give me the same message. I have retrieved a virtual account number from my account many times in the past and never had a problem. I even was able to retrieve it on this new dell laptop. I think the reason I can't retrieve it now on this laptop is that I have installed O&O ShutUp program since the last time I was able to retrieve a virtual cc number. I tried disabling O&O and it still gives me the same flash player error message. I thought one doesn't have to install flash player in chrome like one does in firefox? What setting do I need to modify so I don't receive this flash player error message again? I appreciate the help.

What is the url of this "virtual credit card" site?

O&O ShutUp doesn't affect Flash, so I highly doubt that is the problem.

What versions of Firefox and Chrome are you using? What version of Adobe Flash do you have installed?

Chrome has Flash built-in, but make sure it is active.

Are you using an adblocker or not? There are a lot of fake flash messages.

Did you try IE11 or Edge?

Hi Midknyte. After logging into my account and clicking "get virtual account number" and then clicking launch from next page, it opens up a popup window that says online.citi.com/and much more that is too long to type. I did try Edge numerous times and every time it gives me a cardloader error message.

I clicked on the link you provided and when I went to chrome://components and went down to flash, it said "no update" next to it. After I clicked update, it changed from "no update" to "component not updated."

I found this when I googled "citi virtual card flash"
    https://www.fatwallet.com/forums/finance/1433993
Then I noticed that when right-clicking in the blank browser window of the web app, I got the context menu for flash. So I started poking around in my flash settings, and discovered that I had the local storage setting to "always block". I changed this to "always ask", and then the next time I opened the VAN app, I got a flash pop-up asking me if I wanted to allow accountonline to store local info. Clicked "allow", and now all is right with the world (of virtual account numbers).
If that doesn't work, try contacting Citi support. Unless someone else here has a Citi account, I'm not sure how we could test it.

My setting under advance settings/privacy/content settings was set to "ask first before allowing sites to run flash." I never did get a prompt asking me if I want to run flash though. Like I said before, I was able to get a virtual cc number when I first got my Dell laptop. Some setting must have changed or a program installed that is not allowing me now. I just tried to disable my AV and tried it on chrome with same results.

I will contact Citibank tomorrow and see what they have to say. Midknyte, I appreciate your help, as always. I will post back and let you know what Citi tells me.

I called Citi and they told me that error message meant that my flash player is not up to date. To update flash in chrome, it says I need to type aboutlugins in the browser. When I do that, I get a "this site can't be reached" error message. When I check it in firefox by going to add-ons, I only see 2 listings in there and either are related to flash. Like I said I was able to retrieve a cc number on this laptop in the past and didn't delete flash in firefox or chrome. Why do I receive that error message in chrome when I try to open plugins and how to do I update flash on both browsers?

For Firefox, you should download the Flash installer. The current version is 25.0.0.148
    https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

I already provided the link for Chrome. If that didn't work, you'd need to just update Chrome to the latest version.

You still didn't post the versions of Firefox, Chrome, and Flash that you are currently using.

The version of chrome I am using is 57.0.2987.133 (64-bit) and says it is up to date. The version of firefox is 52.0.2 (64-bit) and it says it is up to date.

At least it's working on FF. Not sure why it wouldn't be working on Chrome, since that is the latest version.

I won't worry about chrome, since I am able to retrieve it on firefox. Thanks for the help Midknyte.
