Long Filename Support
I have my Win Me machine on a network with other computers. They all have the Novell Client v3.3 (exept the Win Me as novell does not support Me yet). When I attempt to access the server with one of the other machines I get all the correct long filenames that are on the server. But when I attempt to access the server through the win Me system I recive short filenames (I know that with a fresh install of any windows o/s this will happen) now I do know of ways to edit the regedit so that Win 95/98 will support longfilenames on the server but can not find any way of doing it on win Me. If anyone knows how I can do this could they post here or e-mail me at holland-r@cwcom.net.
Thanks for your time.

I can't personally help you but I can give you this advice. Try to keep your topic near the top of the list (keep adding replies) and give it some time. It may be a day or two before someone with any idea visits the site.

What is the registry edit that you use in Windows 95/98 to get LongFileName support?
Have you tried this Question in networking? Someone over there may have a better idea.

The registry edit I used for win 95 was -
Hkey_Local_Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\Nwredir
SupportLFN=2
0 = long filenames not supported
1 = long filenames are supported on NetWare version 3.12 and higher
2 = long filenames are supported on Netware version 3.11 (only if a patch has been applied (downloadable from the novell site))
I used this regedit on win 95 and 98 and it worked but does nothing for winme
I havent tried asking on the networking forum, but I will now :-] thanks.
