CTX MONITOR VL700
I am trying to install a driver for an old CTX monitor VL700 for win 98se. I have a driver but cannot install the driver. It unzips but the unzipped file
has no application to install it. How do I fix this or where can I get another driver that works?

You can try doing it manually from within Device manager... Aim the driver install wizard to the location where you've extracted the zip file.

If the previous thread is any indication, what he is wanting to do is change the display resolution, and a monitor driver won't let him do that. He needs the video adapter driver, which he should have saved somewhere from the last time this issue occurred.

I need the video adapter because I have the driver installed and still cannot change resolution. The video adapter I have reads:
STANDARD PCI GRAPHICS ADAPTER (VGA) SOFTWEAR VERSION 4.0 CURRENT FILES vga.drv,*vdd
I got the Graphic Adapter before but could not find it in my past session.
Any help will be appreciated.

Jerry,
The video adapter driver you have installed now is the default driver that Windows uses when it cannot determine which actual video adapter you have installed. It does not have the capability of changing resolution. You need the driver for your specific video adapter that you have installed.
I have used plenty of CTX VL700 monitors back when they were popular, and I never installed a driver for any of them. The only thing that installing a monitor driver will do for you is show the CTX VL700 in Device Manager. It WILL NOT allow you to change the screen resolution. For that you must have the correct video adapter driver.

Glad to hear you have it working.
I hope you saved multiple archive copies of that downloaded driver file to various storage locations. You should have at least 1 copy on a CD that you can use in the future, since there is no telling how long you will still be able to find a copy online.
Now would also be an excellent time to make a complete drive image backup of that Windows 98 system, so you don't have to re-install if it gets messed up or the drive goes bad.

I could not use this computer with Win 98se for a long time because both cd drives would not load.
Then one day my Sony CD recorder just opened. I don' know how but I was able to get this computer
up and running. I have a DVD player that will not load. In device manager it says a:
MITSUMI CD ROM CONTROLLER WITH OLDER SINGLE SPEED DRIVE is not present or not working properly.
Where can I get a driver for this device?

Jerry,
You will need to find out exactly which make and model of drive you have in order to locate drivers for it.
