Blogspot weirdness, won't format according to diagram

I use Win 7 64 Pro, 64 gigs RAM, Gigabyte Mobo.

I was building a website on Blogspot with a custom URL I had it set up to my satisfaction, using a theme that put all the gadgets on the right side of the page. Then I goofed, clicked where I shouldn't have and changed my theme's layout. Now, I try to return to the same format but when I press (in the dashboard/theme or layout), even though I click the format that has the gadgets on the right side, the software formats all my extra info into the footer. I can't find the same layout any more. I'm using a Simple theme but I didn't save it at that point. It's no big deal, but I'm curious if there's a glitch in the Google code or something simply malfunctioning this evening. I began by using Chrome but switching to IE hasn't made any difference. Any ideas? The site is www.aroschbooks.com

    Thanks

F12, which opens Web Developer which is in the browser, and I am using Firefox, then select network > Performance analysis shows just over 3 seconds to load.
Remember 3 seconds is about all folks will wait , then they disappear never to return,

    HTML errors 98
    https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=htt...chbooks.com%2F
    CSS errors (58)
    https://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/...rning=&lang=en

Fixing those errors should speed it up.
NOTE: nearly half of web users expect a site to load in 2 seconds or less, and they tend to abandon a site that isn’t loaded within 3 seconds.

I set up the blog the way I wanted by manually shifting the gadgets over to the right column. No big deal. Since I don't speak Hutmel, (to my great sorrow), most of these HTML checkers are not of use to me. But all is well. Thanks!
