Most extensions will be lost after Firefox 56
FF 57 will be out at the end of this year. Mozilla is not listening to its users, but since FF is open-source, some folks are working to make sure all is not lost. Others are jumping ship.
There are various solutions: switching to SeaMonkey, Firefox 52ESR, or living without extensions. Watch that thread for details. Some of you might not be aware of extensions, and you're the lucky ones. I have 30. Rather than repeating the big change here, I suggest you see:

Can we get this stickied, since users have already discussing solutions for several months?

Again, it's for extensions based on XUL and XPCOM. Many of these are extensions that affect UI. This was actually announced back in 2015. It's just getting more attention now that the end date is getting closer.

IMO, ESR would be the best bet for now. Pale Moon is another option, but it doesn't run all Firefox extensions.

There are other changes coming, so I'll add that to the update post later this week when FF52 is released.

I didn't see the announcement at the top of the page. You can remove this thread if you want.
