[RESOLVED] Going from wireless to hardwire CAT5 for internet connection
Running Vista Home Basic edition on my laptop my friend gave me.
I want to try using a direct CAT5 connection with the laptop since it is older and slow hoping that using the CAT5 my internet connection will be a bit faster than my WiFi.
Do I have to disable the wireless adapter before I use the CAT5 connection or do I just plug in the cable and it takes over the wireless connection.
I do a lot of browsing on Craigslist and it take a long time for the pictures to come up. I am hoping that even though my processor is kind of slow the direct connection with a CAT5 will speed things up a bit.
If I have to disable my wireless adapter how do I do that?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks so much

Plug in the cat 5 and it should take over.
Now I have to FN+ what ever key to disable the wireless. Some laptops have a switch for that.

Train thanks for your help. I was able to deactivate the wireless by FNC+ and when I plugged in the CAT 5 it did bring the speed up more. not that much more but enough to notice the difference.
Thanks

Dial-up; what's that?
No, just kidding. Yup I remember those days, hated it!!
Kids now-a-days don't know how lucky they are.
Thanks again.
