    Boot issue

I use win xp pro. While I was surfing the net, my computer just rebooted. It stopped at the win logo screen and won't complete the bootup. I see the blue bar moving across the screen. I rebooted in safe mode without any issues. After I booted into safe mode, I attempted to boot into windows normal mode again with same results (does not pass the win logo screen). What could be the issue and what can I do to boot into windows? I appreciate the help in advance.

I forgot to add that I also tried booting into windows by selecting last working configuration and it does not go passed the win logo screen.

Run a memtest and hard drive diag first. If the hardware is bad, there's no sense in trying to repair Windows.

Hi Midknyte. I tried booting up with the flash drive containing UBCD535 and it just tried to boot into windows. It did not boot into UBCD. I have my boot sequence configured correctly to boot usb-hdd first. I, also, tried going into boot menu during bootup and selected usb-hdd and had same results (just tries to boot into windows). I rebooted into safe mode and I see the flash drive containing UBCD535 just fine.

Run into that mess quite a bit, Dirt contacts, usually plugging in and unplugging 3 or 4 times cleans the contacts where the computer can boot what is on it. When that does not work, even though they still work for data tranfer, I have taken a hammer to them and got rid of them.

#1 here is all I ever had to use and just replace the ones on the hdd with the ones on the cd. Yes I made a cd.

Hi, Train. I tried to flash drives that had UBCD on them and both didn't boot into it. I, even, air dusted the usb port to blow out any dust that may have accumulated inside the port and still same results.

Right now I am in safe mode. I selected safe mode with networking so I could have internet access, so it is easier for me to reply using my pc than my tablet. What would be my first option to try? Should I do a system restore first and see if that allows me to boot into windows? Can I do a system restore in safe mode? What option should I try first?

My problems usually stemmed from one of these being corrupt.
    Boot.ini
    NTLDR
    Ntdetect.com

So by burn those three to the cd and booting the cd, it bypassed the corrupt ones on the hdd and booted to windows.

What program did you use to put UBCD on the stick?

In Windows, I use Rufus https://rufus.akeo.ie/

Try system restore, #3 , next.

I just thought of this. Since I already tried selecting last working configuration during bootup and that didn't work, would a system restore possibly allow me to boot into windows? Is selecting last working config the same as doing a system restore?

Did you try booting from the UBCD flash drive on another system? Since the current version is 5.3.6, I'm guessing you made that UBCD flash drive a while ago.

If you can't get the system to boot from USB, did you try just burning a UBCD CD?

System restore lets you select a older restore point, go back a week at least is what I recommend. And try that, if it does not work, go further back the next time.

This is the update. I shut down my computer to switch out my cd-rom drive with a dvd writer drive. After doing that, I attempted to reboot into safe mode again and as so as I turned my pc on, I heard a constant buzzing. I opened the case and looked inside and I saw the red lights on 2 of my geil memory sticks. I also have to corsair sticks in my pc, as well. It still allowed me to boot into safe mode. Then, I shut down my pc and took out all 4 memory sticks and re-inserted them, then booted again. Same results (red lights on both geil sticks and constant buzzing). Then, I shut down pc and took out the 2 geil sticks and rebooted into safe mode with networking. I am in safe mode and using this pc as I reply but the buzzing is still constant and did not turn off. What could be causing the constant buzzing?

I made a few typos in my previous reply. I typed it again below with the typos corrected.

What do you mean by "buzzing"? Is it coming from the speakers? Could it be one of the fans (cpu/gpu/psu/case)?

What is the make/model of the motherboard? Did you check for bad caps?

Why are you swapping the optical drives now?

Midkynte, I swapped my cd-rom with a writable rom drive so I could attempt to burn UBCD to a disc.

The buzzing appears to be coming from internal speakers inside my pc. All my capitors look fine. My MB is a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P.
