Starting afresh with Win 10 for the 1st time
Hi all. Hope it's ok to post this here or maybe there's already a 'go to' thread available?
I treated myself to a new desktop recently so looking for any tips before finally rigging it up and getting started. My current operating system is Win 7 so I imagine Win 10 is gonna be pretty difficult to navigate to begin with.
Not sure what software will be loaded, probably a free trial version of AV of some sort, is it worth doing a complete wipeover to begin with?
Any advice on compatible free AV and firewall would be appreciated. I currently use microsoft essentials AV and zone alarm which has been the perfect combination for me. Before that I was a fan of Avast before it became too intrusive so would rather avoid that.
I will obviously need to get the latest Win updates.
Any other tips would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Microsoft's built-in AV should be OK. You may still want a third party firewall for Windows 10 though, es[ecially if you want to block some of MS's telemetry.
Lots of Windows 10 tips on ZDNet:
