VLC Users ? Need Some Help!

I am not sure if this is the correct spot for this type of query, but here goes: I use VLC for watching all sorts of video including movies, TV shows etc. I also need the subtitles because of severe hearing loss.
The problem I'm having with VLC is that when I do a search for sub on a particular file, it will show the sub ok, but when I click to DL, I get this message : " Extension Vlsub 0.10.0 Does not respond. Do you want to kill it now?" I have done evrything I can think of including install newer versions, updating the lua vlsub. No matter which PC I try this on I get the same results. Hopefully someone out there can save the day ! Without subtitle & or CC, I am lost. Thanks..............

    severe hearing loss.
I will be tracking this thread for that reason. Had to give up my music to protect what little I have left.

Looks like it could be caused by a slow internet connection:

    https://github.com/exebetche/vlsub/issues/29

    Possible fix here:

    Signatures, are exempt from quoting.

2 distros of Linux that I like and use plus Beta test. And of coarse the silly Windows 10.

Negative on the slow internet connection. I am not streaming. I have a folder of video type files that have subtitle capabilities. No need for an internet connection. But thanks jdc for the info ...
