Settlers 4 gold error

today i have buy a new screencard the Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 TI

now i get a error when i try to play Settlers 4 gold edition

the error is this:
Software 3D: Error initializing Graphic Interface!
Hardware 3D: Error Initializing Graphic Interface!

All the other games and everything else is working fine
it is not a virus or spyware it must be a setting somewhere.
i have been looking on the net but cant find the solution.

only i want that this game is also working
and i know it is a old game.
but this morning it was working fine , till the old screen-card my Geforce GTX 550 TI went broke.

please help

That's a super old game. Try compatibility mode.

Running windows 10, even after doing everything that has been suggested the game still would not work for me without these few additional steps that I would like to share in case it will help someone else out. right clicking settlers IV and go to properties. on the compatibilities tab I had to run compatible with win xp sp3. Further down under settings i had to check "reduced color mode" the drop down arrow under this i selected "8 bit (256) color". Then clicked "run as administrator". Then before attempting to open the game I would have to change my screen resolution to "1024 x 768". I would then open the game and it would work.

and yes i did update the drivers
it have something to do with the 3D

but wat you now just have write this i did not
i have done the compatible to win 7 so i think i need also to set the color to 256 ,
wil try this first , now i can install it again .
and yes it is the version from GOG

but it is not working ... i think the game is to old for my graphics card ...

Got it working

i downloaded dgVoodoo 2

copy 3 files to the game exe folder and it works

thank you , and yes i'm also glad that it is working again
i went to a voodoo forum for voodoo graphics card
and there was a man/guy that had almost the same pc setup like me here ,
he used the dgvoodoo2 to let the game run

so i did the same
