    Laptop or Tablet

I have an aunt that was using a tablet that just died on her. She mostly used it to surf the web and play online casino slot games. Should she buy another tablet or would it be better for her to buy a laptop? Can someone recommend something that would be best for her needs?

Would she need a $600 laptop just to surf web and play free caino slot games that she played on her tablet just fine? She wasn't looking to spend nearly that much at all.

Hi, Train. It was the Samsung ATIV Tab 3 XE300TZC-K01US. I told her that she should get a laptop instead. I know she said she could never print on her tablet.

I told that a refurbished laptop wouldn't be that expensive. Is that a good refurbished laptop that fits the specs for her needs that isn't expensive?

Yes, if fact this Dell latitude D630 is a refurbished, But, I am running Linux Antix-16 on it.
Fact is I have several refurbished computers.
Walmart and Best Buy is where I get refurbished stuff lately.

Laptop generally I prefer Dell for the refurbs.
Just make sure it has the OS you want on it and 6 GB of ram.

The refurbished laptops that had SATA HDDS, I upgraded to SSD myself . A 240 GB SSD should be more than large enough.
SSD boots faster and opens programs real quick.

2012 is when I got my first refurb and bought about 20 for clients and all are still working.

Example: These would do for me as Windows 10 rigs.

Train, how did you copy the OS that was on the HDD when you installed a SSD on the laptop? I am trying to find a decent dell refurbished laptop and not sure if it would best to have win 7 pro or win 10 OS.

    Go with 10.

I downloaded Win 10, made the USB drive stick and installed it. What I prefer to do.

Since the laptop is registered on line, The new install checks, sees the computer is , and it is activated.

I have one of these also.

Clones one hdd to another. SSD, I much prefer to do a clean install.

It depends on who you ask.

If you ask me, I would have to say no. Aside form the security issues, Microsoft is always changing it, and since it automatically updates, you never know where a feature has been moved to, or if it has been dropped altogether. The stability is also an issue. If you only use it to access the internet and e-mail, this shouldn't be a big issue. If you use other software, there may be effects from untested updates.
