Virus on motherboard
My brother opened an email then downloaded and got an immediate warning you have a virus. Call us to remove it
for $200. He formatted his hard drive and reinstalled windows 10. It seems to be in the motherboard. Can this be fixed.

Are you saying that after a format and reinstall that he's still infected with a virus? What indications are there that there is still an infection?

Probably the wrong NIC drivers. or the router got hit also.
Factory reset the router if he has one.

What do you mean replace? You need to install the NIC drivers.
Post the make/model of the motherboard. Or if it's an OEM system like Dell, then post the exact model number.
