No audio on a Asus R505CB
Hi,
I have no audio on my Asus R505CB through speakers, when I connect it to my TV via HDMI than there is audio same goes with headphone. I have checked all settings I can think of, could it be I need to replace the speaker?
Best regards

When was audio through the speaker(s) last working? Have you updated anything since then (Microsoft updates, etc.)?

The speaker(s) is/are unlikely to have failed. If anything, there may be a loose connection somewhere in the wires that go to them, especially if the headphone jack is still working. To eliminate software as the problem, you could try booting a live Linux CD or USB flash drive to see if the speakers work with a different OS.

Have you gone in and selected the right setup for ubuntu. I have to make changes sometimes with AntiX. But must admit, I very, very seldom use sound.
Now, do you even have the driver for USB sound, and your best bet is the ubuntu forums for answer on this problem.

Well I dont see why the ubuntu forum should be the right forum for this issue. I only used ubuntu via usb to check if I got sound through speaker, which I did not. The headphone worked fine in ubuntu thought. Guess there is no driver or setting issue then. Seems to me it is hardware. Is next step to open it up and check for loose connection?

I'd say it may be time to start investigating the hardware. Unfortunately, that will require some disassembly of the laptop.
