PDF-Xchange Program
Every time I would click on a pdf hyperlink on a webpage using firefox, PDF-Xchange program would open the pdf file in the program itself. I did not change any settings in the program and the last few days when I click on a pdf hyperlink on a webpage, it saves it to my hard drive instead of opening the file in the program itself. Does anyone know where and which setting in the program I can modify to have it open a pdf file in the program itself like it always did in the past?

Go to Edit->Reset All Settings to Defaults, this will return the viewer to its factory settings.

Hi, Train. I just clicked on what you advised and tried to click on a pdf hyperlink on a webpage in firefox and it still asks me to save it to my hard drive instead of just opening the file.

Try using Windows System Restore to roll Windows back to a point in time when your computer was functioning correctly. It allows you to undo system changes without affecting your personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos.
If that doesn't help, try restoring an earlier system image or backup.

Hi, SpywareDr. I am not sure when this problem began to do a system restore. I think I found the installation program that I used to install PDF-Xchange on my drive. I was thinking to uninstall my current PDF-Xhange program on my drive using Revo Uninstaller and then re-installing it. Wouldn't that be an easier option?

Hi JDC2000. Thanks for those links. My settings seem to be configured ok so not sure why it always wants to save the pdf file to disk instead of just opening the file.

What browser are you using? There should be a setting somewhere that should allow you to change the option.

JDC2000, I checked my settings under options/applications in firefox before I posted this issue and there are 2 listings in applications pertaining to my PDF-Xchange program and both were set to "use PDF-Xchange viewer." The other options in the drop down box were "always ask", "save file", and "use other."

You stated the "last few days" so go back say a week. Only takes a couple of minutes and you should be good to go.

Hi, SpywareDr. I know I have performed system restores in the past without any issues, but I always think in the back of my head that an issue may occur when doing a system restore. I think I may just uninstall pdf-xchange using revo uninstaller and then reinstall it. I will post back after I do it later tonight how it went.

Sounds like a plan.
BTW, before Windows goes back to your selected System Restore point, it creates a new, current System Restore point. That way, if you change your mind for some reason, you can go back to where you were a moment ago.

SpywareDr, I wasn't aware that one could revert back if one changes his mind when doing a system restore. I appreciate that info. I always think something will go wrong with a restore or even reverting back if one changes their mind. I uninstalled pdf-xchange and reinstalled it and it still doesn't open a pdf file when clicking a hyperlink on a webpage. It still forces me to save it to my hard drive instead. I wish I knew why it won't allow me.

What were the exact names of the options?
Did you go into Tools > Options > Applications and set "Portable Document Format (PDF)" to Open with PDF-Xchange?

Hi Midknyte. There are 2 listings in applications. One is pdf-xchange viewer document (application/download) and the other is pdf-xchange viewer document (application/x-download). Yes, I went to tools/options/applications and set both of them to "use pdf-xchange viewer."
Maybe I will try another freeware pdf viewer if one is available. Does anyone know if there is another good freewear viewer that is just as good as pdf-xchange?
