DELL LATTITUDE E 6320
I have a DELL LATTITUDE E 6320 with win 7 64 bit
My front sd slot for opening pictures is not working. Do I have to turn it on. How? The slot does not show up in
My computer, or windows explorer or device manager. Can this be fixed?

Should be a USB device and they are probably set to save power, so take the checks out.

You should also check in the BIOS to see if the card reader is enabled.

Try pressing F2 right after you power it on.

And f2 does not get into the bios
Are you sure? When are you pressing the F2 key? You need to be pressing it right after you power on the laptop, when you see the "Dell" screen.

And if you are a tad slow pushing it, you have to start all over.
I turn my Dell Latitude D630 on and hit F2 real quick or I miss it.

I was able to get into the Bios and found the Media Card setting in on but the card reader still does not work.
It must be turned off somewhere else. I am running Win 7 pro 64

Are there any unknown devices in Device Manager?
Is this a new install of Windows or not? Was the card reader ever working?

There is no unknown devices in Device manager but there is an
entry for smart card reader that is working. I have an express
card slot that works. The computer was bought refurbished
and win 7 may be a new install. The sd card reader never worked.

The Smart Card reader is not the Memory Card reader; they are two separate things. Smart Cards are used for Logins/ID, not storage. When you checked the BIOS, did it say Smart Card or SD Card?

Are you sure the Memory Card reader driver is installed?

Then the physical slot might be there, but the media card reader isn't. I've seen Dells that have certain ports blocked off. They might have unblocked it during the refurb, but the card reader hardware isn't behind the physical port.

I think the port is there because when I insert an sd card it springs. back and came with a plastic plug
