Avast to acquire its security AVG
Avast just recently announced that it will acquire its security rival AVG Technologies for $1.3 Billion to help further expand its business.
I have used Avast and really like their security software until recently. I may go back to Avast in the future. However, I never really liked AVG antivirus myself.
Do you believe this is the right move?

The shareholders of AVG think it's a good thing. Share price went up 30 percent on the sale. I'm surprised that Avast had 1.3 Billion in cash to spend. Clearly they're doing something right business-wise especially considering they're a private company and aren't spending shareholders money.
I'll wait and see what happens to/with Avast first before I make any judgement but if Avast adopts any of AVG's technology to it's own product then I'd be likely to switch a/v products quickly meaning bye bye Avast.
