The only other program I've ever used successfully to download YouTube videos was YouTube Downloader.
It was a separate program in a separate window. Whatever Youtube page you were currently on was automatically loaded and all you had to hit was "download." GREAT QUALITY! Worked like a charm for over a year after Real Player stopped working for YouTube (but still worked on other sites)
However YouTube Downloader stopped working about a year ago and we never could get it up and running again.

Statusbar at the bottom of the IE window. It shows the ABP icon at the bottom right.
You might have hidden it. Right-click in the Menu bar and you can check Status bar.
It sounds like a problem with the source video. You tried multiple YT videos from different sources?

I reread this thread. IMO, IE is the problem. IE has always had it's quirks and you're running into more. Add RealPlayer (or whatever it's current name is) and IMO, it's a recipe for an undesirable result.
My advice is to stop using IE and use Firefox and Google Chrome as your combo. You're already familiar with FF and there are several good extensions/methods to download videos with it. I say use it for your downloads and use the arguably safer Chrome for your general surfing.
The ONLY reason I ever use IE anymore is to go to a specific site that won't work any other way. Even Microsoft has given up on IE. Windows 10's default browser is Edge, not IE. (Yes, IE is still there but again, it's basically only for specific site/software support. MS does not want it to be used for day to day stuff anymore. Thus the reason it's pretty much hidden.)
Chrome and FF (sandboxed) are what I use at home. They perform very well and IMO, they can for you too!

I agree. That's why I've been pushing FF and the download addons. If Video Download Helper and Greasemonkey/YTDscript both fail, I highly suspect it's the video you're trying to download. We can't confirm, since you didn't post links to your videos.

I'm 99% sold on using Firefox as my main browser. With U Block Origin I'll even more sold.
I only use IE for a couple of sites like Yahoo and YouTube.
As for the other suggested video downloaders, they do work, in that the videos downloads. But if the audio and video are out of sync it's not any good.
Yes I have tried multiple videos, short, long, high quality, low quality, the audio and video are never in sync.
As for getting Ad Blocker to work in IE again, sure enough the status bar showed it was NOT on for the YouTube panel which is of course when I really need it.
So I clicked the Ad Blocker icon on a page it was working and went to settings. There's an exceptions list. There's also a checked box "allow non intrusive advertising." I unchecked it and reopened YouTube. Now it's working again!!!
We'll have to see for how long. I suspect it auto resets every 48 hours.

That's another reason I switched to uBO. ABP was "whitelisting" ads. uBO doesn't do that, plus it uses way less memory.
Hmm. I wonder why you're having audio sync issues. I don't get that problem. I always download as mp4, not flv.

As with post 9, a little history of Adblock Plus might be interesting to some. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adblock_Plus It's a MUCH bumpier history than uBlock Origin...

If you just want to download videos from Youtube, a better solution might be to use the PORTABLE version of Youtube Downloader HD. With that, all you need is the video url.

So Ad Blocker Plus lasted for 9 whole days on YouTube before giving out.
I'll try reinstalling. According to the status bar it should be working.
What is the portable version of YouTube downloader HD? I'll give it a try.

After a reinstall it's working again!
However, I forgot that when reopening IE, Youtube must be opened (Ad Block won't be working. Then on another tab tell Ad Block to start. Then reopen YouTube in a new tab and it will be working!

I'll try the new YouTube Downloader when I have a chance but I'm very satisfied with Real Player which is now working on Firefox. I'd just been looking at the wrong place on the video webpage for it.
In IE one must place the mouse over the video as it is playing. After 5 seconds the Real Player link will appear just above the video.
In Firefox a small blue box will appear at the top center of the video webpage. Duuhhhhh.
I suspect the reason Ad Blocker stops working on IE over time is due to Google image search. It will cause Ad blocker to stop working within the hour. This does not happen with Firefox. Hence, all the more reason to use Firefox.
