More time worked, windows is now fully updated but there is one problem, when I shut down or restart it hangs and shows that it can't shut down as there is still programs running in the background preventing shutdown
even when I have shut said programs. It offers for me to force shutdown but the programs eventually shutdown by themselves if left. Also start up is slow connecting to network.
I now have offers to upgrade to win10 which I intend doing, should I go ahead with this or do these problems need attention first considering I intend to do the clean install of win 10 to get rid of Sony bloatware.

I'd give upgrade a shot. It may fix some things.
If it doesn't work you can always go for clean installation.

I'm going to upgrade the memory from 3gb to 8gb from Crucial where I gave them my exact model No.vpcj12loe, and they offered DDR3L PC3L-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3L-1600 • 1.35V •memory kit of 8gb 2x 4gb chips. But the memory installed on this pc is pc3-8500-1066.Are they right that I can use this higher speed.
