An SSD would definitely help all around performance. If that's an option for you, I agree with Train.

when I look through my Users section I dont really see anything big in there, no movies or anything
so its hard to see how its amounting to what ? 30 gig !
but I suppose programmes loaded , software etc can start to add up

I had "easy video convertor" ( free ) on my big desktop comp and it worked perfectly, it does nt seem to work on my laptop
is there anything else I could try ?

I was using it mainly to convert vobs video from a dvd recorder to mpeg 2

I can't see what you're seeing in Users, so I can't say what is taking up the space.
Did you expand the Users folder in Disktective (click the + next to Users)?
That would should show you all the files and subfolders under Users.

If you don't want a graphical view, try Treesizefree instead. Whatever is easiest for you.

You should create another thread about "easy video convertor", since it's a different topic.
If anything, I would uninstall it with Revo or Geek Uninstaller, then reinstall.

Hmm. If you are doing video conversions, you'd need free disk space for processing. Did you check the Users folder for temp/dummy files created by the video convertor software? Normal cleaner apps only target the usual Windows temp folders, not specialized apps.

There should be a cache folder for the video conversion tool and it needs cleaned out.

dID nt think of that but you may be right.....
there might not have been enough space on the c drive for easy video converter to work properly ....
(the dvd disc with vobs is 3.95 gig !)

Ill have to give it another go now that I have 9 gigs of space on the c drive

thanks guys and gals for all the help on this thread ....
I ll have to keep hold of those tools for future use !
