"Insufficient disk space" in Word. I have 699gb

I am running Win 7 64 Home Premium with 8 gigs of Ram and my C drive is a 1 TB WD that has 699 Gigs left of free space. I'm going to do a defrag right now. When trying to cut/paste in word 2000 I"m getting the "Insufficient disk space. Close down extra windows" message. I've checked my apps and processes in Task Manager and other than Chrome's usual greed I don't see anything weird. What is this?
    Thanks

What are you attempting to cut and paste - text or images? This is a known issue with Word 2000, and isn't likely to be fixed. How much memory (RAM) does the system have?

I'm working with text and this does happen from time to time. I can cut/paste within a document but not across documents.

I installed the SP-3 for Office 2000, but the glitch is still with me.

You could try renaming the "normal.dot" file to "normal.dxt" in case it is corrupted and causing the issue.
