[RESOLVED] transfer files from one USB key to another...
I've got about 20 Gigs of mostly music files on one USB thumb drive I want to transfer to another larger thumb drive. Both USB 2.0 so it's not fast LOL.
I can do it a limited number of files at a time (3-400megs) no problem but it's aggravatingly labor intensive. When I try to do much more than a half gig at once my computer just bogs down and stops transfering. I'd really just like to click "go" and come back in a few hours or so and have it done.
Is there any free software or perhaps CMD prompt I can use to do it in one swell foop?
I have tried using my True Image cloning utility but the thumb drives are greyed out.
Win 7 pro.

You could use Microsoft's SyncToy or SyncBack free version from 2brightsparks, or a simple copy or xcopy command.

or a simple copy or xcopy command.
That's what I was wondering. Is it reliable to do it that way? Does it report any errors? Does it stop on an error?

It sounds like you are doing multiple selects and copies. Try Teracopy. The free version should be good enough. I don't set it as my default copy handler; I just right-click and choose Teracopy. If you do multiple select/copies, it'll queue them instead of running simultaneously.

I recall seeing Teracopy in the past. I'll give that a go.

That worked perfectly plus the auto CRC file check was a bonus.

Cool. The default Win7/8 copy handler speed is fine for single jobs. For queued copies from multiple sources, I use Teracopy.
