Asus Laptop
I have a relative who wants to purchase the Asus UX305FA-USM1 13-Inch Laptop. The link of it is below. The only difference from the specs on the one below from the one she would receive is that hers would have windows 10 and 256GB SSD. The cpu on this laptop is the Intel Core M-5Y10 800 MHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.00 GHz. I don't know much about processors, but I read that the Intel Core M processors are really slow. Is this Asus laptop really good and worth buying?

A brand I would never buy, but the M series are laptop cpus, and because of heat issues, they have to be slower than the desktop cpus.
Personally, I would wait until it comes with Win 10.
Win 8.1 and upgrading to Win 10 for some computers is a NO GO situation.
Toshiba is my laptop preference for Windows.
Just to look at in the 13" range

Ditto on Toshiba. All of mine have been too. My ASUS tablet is not very good.. not a laptop but close enough for me to compare.
VirtualDr email notices are not working.
Check back regularly for responses.

I appreciate the feedback. I gave my relative this info and she did not purchase the Asus laptop. I never used a laptop before and only used a pc. I am still on the market for a decent laptop for a backup if I have problems with my pc. I am considering on a Toshiba based on your responses but are there other decent laptop brands that are just as good? What are your thoughts on the Lenovo laptop in the link below?

Looks OKAY to me.
But remember a laptop is a lot slower than a desktop.
But then I have several laptops and desktops with Win 7, win 10 and severa versions of Linux installed on them. Okay, I like to tinker a bit.

Hi, Train, I appreciate the reply. I always thought that manufacturers made products for Wal-Mart that were lesser quality than products made that they sold to other merchants because Wal-Mart prices are a bit cheaper than the competitor. Could you or someone suggest a decent model from the link you provided which is below that isn't too pricey?

I am considering a Dell Latitude E6420 14" Notebook with Intel Core i5-2520M 2.50GHz, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, DVDROM, Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit refurbished. I am not a gamer and would mostly use it for watching videos/movies. Below are the specs. How is the speed of this laptop. Would this be a good purchase? I have never owned or used a laptop before. Would the components in this laptop be easy to upgrade, as well?

That should work well for what you plan to do. I have used E6430 models with an i7 and 8 GB of memory.
Upgrading the memory or SSD should not be a huge problem. You may want to consider 8 GB of memory. Also, a 128 GB SSD should be OK if you don't plan to store lots of video on the SSD, otherwise it may fill up quickly.

I believe it will do the trick for you.
Will not be able to store much as brought out, and the 4 GB maybe enough but easily upgraded.

I was considering on purchasing it from Newegg. Newegg has it for $250 after rebate. After doing some searching, I found a number of sellers selling this model for approx. $160. The only difference I think I found was that the laptops on Ebay contained a HHD drive and not a SSD drive like the model on Newegg. I dont' think I noticed any other differences. That is a big difference in price. I never purchased a refurbished product before and am confused.

A Solid State Drive (SSD) would account for the price difference. It would be noticeably faster than a model with a standard platter type magnetic hard drive.
