[RESOLVED] Downloading the new HTML5 files
Most often, I download videos to extract the audio as an MP3 file, and make them into my own CD's. Since Youtube changed formats, my old downloaders, Moyea and Freemake, no longer work. I can still use them on other sites.
I tried this one, only to find it's a 3-day trial, with a number of limitations. I suspect after 3 days it might not download either.

Has anyone tried a free player that will do both processes? Or even 2 separate programs? I have the VLC player, but I don't think it downloads or converts unless I write my own code.

I use YouTubeDownloaderHD, an earlier version than the current one, without OpenCandy, to download YouTube videos.

I use Ant video downloader.. an addon for Firefox.

You can easily choose to turn off it's optional toolbar. To download Youtube videos there's a converter that you need to install by following the wizard that appears when you first try.

Ant: It says it's installing the converter, but nothing happens.
Going to try YouTubeDownloaderHD too

YTD HD works well, used with a separate MP3-converter program. Thanks, guys

8/4/2015, For posterity--
Just got an email from Ant.com. Despite the instruction in the downloader to install the converter, the converter is an online program, which is OK by me. I've bookmarked the page right next to the the Ant compact menu.

I suggested they should remove the instruction to install the converter. Developer is Russian, thus the grammatical boo-boos on the site.. Yes, I know most spam is from Russia, but I have 5 email addresses.
I should also mention for posterity that the new format is .webm

Thanks for the update. I use an older version of Ant downloader that still does it's own conversion.. and I prefer that. I was unaware of that online conversion so I'll continue to not update it.
