    Question microsoft essentials

I always update essentials or check it when i boot up and other times just to see if it's current.

Am i better off more secure to set it to auto update?,, Just in case?

    tks

I do both on my tablet.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.

After i went back and opened it, i can see no way to set it to auto update, it's either real time or off, so you have to update it manually, to stay up, unless it's through windows updates?

It is all in the drop down under settings.
Read the line that have check marks in front of them.
I set mine to run daily at a time I normally have then on. So my answer is BOTH also.

You can also create a task in Task Scheduler to check for Defender/MSE updates instead of relying just on regular Windows Updates which I run manually and therefore have to install the updates that way after checking to see if they're available.

Nothing wrong with manually updating, and running a scan. I will take the time to do it.
    On the windows computers anyway.
