Right now, I would use the Avast removal tool
    https://avast-removal-tool.com/

Reboot a couple times and see how the computer is doing.

MSE, I have been using for years with no problems.

Or if you wish, reinstall Avast from a new download.
Avast has caused problems over the years for my clients and I do not care for it. But doing the tool uninstall, reboots and install has worked for a couple.

Update. Its happened again....its clearly to do with Adobe and flash. It pops up in the taskbar manager when the computer is slow...end the process and its good for a short few seconds and then it pops back in there. Will definitely try removing AVAST but me thinks this problem is definitely the adobe flash. I don't get it. man this is driving me bonkers. I didn't have adobe flash working as I couldn't play videos...but this is why everything was working great. Then I installed it to play videos on TSN.ca and facebook and VOILA, problem back.

Avast is messing up the install of flash.

Some AV programs need to be disabled or removed before installing new programs.

Fact is your Avast problem is the 6th one I have posted to in the last 5 days. So you evidently got a bad update .

May I suggest using MSE http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...tials-download
I and several other mods have been usng it for years and have had no troubles.
