laptop with windows 7
hi
Ive got a dell laptop ( recon )
I see a window coming up... you re running out of space ....
I go to computor
I see 58 meg free of 67 gig
Im surprised at how little storage is in these laptops
67 gig does nt seem that much
Looking in my documents I cant see much more than about 38 gig of movies, clips etc
will the comp be taking up 30 gig for itself ?
( maybe I made a mistake buying a recon comp
I bet the latest laptops have a lot more than 67 gig storage ! )

Which model is your Dell. As for the hard drive space it's probably a SSD drive.

That doesn't tell the model name or number.

Yes, being refurbished they could well have installed a smaller hdd. Do check the above links so we can find out what they put in there.

Go into device manager, expand the hard drive, and post the make and model of the hard drive.
SATA hdds, if you have one are easy to upgrade. PATA are harder to get.

Looks like the original was a SATA (Serial ATA)-150 spinning at 5400 RPM

thanks for the suggestion of a new drive, but Ive now got a 1 T
seagate usb hd plugged into the laptop.
I can move stuff off the laptop ... I can even download directly to the seagate.
Maybe I made a big mistake buying a recon machine ?
cant believe how small the HD was..... 67 gig ! an it seems almost half of that taken up
by the comp software
I should prob have gone for an up to date model with processors prob twice as fast as mine !
ah well, you live and learn !

67 GB is barely adequate for Windows 7 once you get other software installed. How much space were you able to free up? You should have at least 4 GB free.

That system did not originally come with Win7. The factory options were XP or Vista. HDs were either 60, 80, or 120GB. It's a pretty old model, so it shouldn't be surprising that it came with a smaller HD.
