    Resolved [RESOLVED] Video Problems

Hi all, ........... My Win8.1 system is about one month old. When I open a video, be it pictures or a typed message, the video continues for some time, maybe ten or fifteen minutes, then the video appears stuck with no further movement, but the audio continues. I have no idea as to how to fix this problem and am asking for some suggestions to solve this condition.

What kind of video file is it? What media player are you using?

Another question. Is this happening on the web?

photolady: Yes, the only videos i use are from the web.

Midknyte: I'm not sure how to answer the kind of video file which is why I answered the above first. I'm using the VideoLan (VLC) media player. Thank you both for your interest.

    What is the file extension?

Does this happen with all videos or just one in particular? It could be an encoding problem with that file. VLC plays just about anything I throw at it.

Train: I'm convinced that the video problem is with my system. I sent a link to my daughter and it played on her computer well past where the video stops on mine. (approx. 2.08 min.) Here's a link.

I am using a Firefox based brrowser and It plays fine. But I am using flash which the page code calls for.

And I seriously doubt it will play in latest IE.

Ah, so it's a Flash video. That narrows it down. Definitely NOT a VLC problem.

I use 31.6.0 ESR Firefox and the video plays fine.

What browser are you using? What version of Flash are you running?

Midknyte: I'm using Firefox (v. 37.02) almost exclusively. I don't know which Flash or how to find which one I'm using.

Train: I think I'm going to need some instruction to pin down the proper value of the Flash that should be in my system. Again thank you both for your support.

    To find you Flash version:
    Go to Tools - Addons
    Go to Plugins
    Shockwave Flash ##

    The current version is 17.0.0.169

If you're not current, download the installer for Plugin-based browsers

Train and Midknyte: The information that each of you provided solved the problem. Quite frankly I thought my Flash Player was up to date and it may have been. Rather than finding which version was installed I simply downloaded the newest version and the video played to completion. My sincere thanks for your interest and help.

And you're welcome from me too. If I hadn't ask my question neither Train nor Midknyte would have known you were talking about a video online. eh? LOL
