java based dvd wont run anymore
a neologica software dvd, java jre based dvd (others similar as well) wont run anymore, it has been running well but not anymore, a regular dvd based on data I downloaded is running fine.
I have java 8
a brand new lenovo with garbage 8.1 driving me crazy since I got it.
It used to start by itself, but now a Neologica miniwindow open up askin how I like to open up: install jre from cd/dvd (raccomended): use jre embedded on cd (slower)
none works. the cd works on an older pc.
there are still a lot of important W updates that fail everyday, and a bunch of issues that I still cant fix.

If you want to run Java programs, but not develop them, download the Java Runtime Environment, or JRE™.
If you want to develop applications for Java, download the Java Development Kit, or JDK™
If you get them missed up. . .
Test to find out.

Download and reinstall Windows defender.
You have a out of date version which causes that no update problem.
Anyway, how I fixed the windows defender problem. Fix that first.

Which version of Java JRE are you installing, 32 or 64 bit? Just because you have a 64 bit OS, that doesn't mean the application will run on 64 bit Java.
https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml
What version of Java is the application asking for? Java 8 (or 7) isn't always backwards compatible to older version. If you're not sure, you should check with the application vendor.

Maybe that will clean things up so you can update online again,
Yes, restoring back to before you had trouble would be a good thing to try.
