You mean on the "Metro" or "Modern" screen. AKA the one with the tiles.

The pics need to be in the "Pictures" library.
Click on the section "If you don't see photos and videos you expect to see"
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/w...photos-app-faq
There are a couple of reasons photos and videos you expected to see in the Photos app aren't showing up. For example, if your files aren't in the Pictures library, the Photos app won't find them. Here are a couple of things to try so that you can see them in the app.

when you click on the windows key and the tiles show up .. there is one tile that says Photos .. but when I click on that tile it says ' there is no files or folders in this view " ....

my quest is to transfer said photos from my D: drive to this area .. the link you provided only explains how to transfer photos from iPhone /android or camera to folder .. my photos are already in a Drive and my operating system ( said photo tile ) is more than likely in my C: Drive ..

    thanks

Until you add your photos folder to the Pictures library, you won't see anything.
You don't need to transfer files; you need to add your photos to the Pictures library.

From the second link I posted:
How do I add a folder to a library?
Some apps let you browse your PC to select folders to add. You can also add folders in File Explorer. To do this:

Browse to the folder you want to add, and then press and hold or right-click it.

Tap or click Include in library, and then select the library to which you want to add the folder.
In your case, you would need to right-click on your photos folder, click Include in library, Pictures

Okay solved quick and easy ..:
had to do - View all hidden folders / which opened up library folder off the C: drive then highlighted the D: folder / pictures and copied to this Library folder off the C drive ., when completed .. the start/ tiles / photo now displayed all the 4100 pictures back in ' library ..

That works too, but you could have left everything in D: and just added that folder to the Pictures library. Whatever works for you.
