[RESOLVED] HP laptops and those num lock some work some don't ..

I have hp dv7 .. and my daughter has an hp dv7 .. both run windows8.1 and on my daughters laptop if I automatically go to the small keypad to the right of the 'aphabet board and just use these numeral keys .. the numbers never appear UNESS I first click on the key to the upper left called num lock then the numbers will work .. but on my laptop I never have to do this the numbers just automatically work ..

what is the magic to get this numlock to just be unlocked ..?

There's probably an option in the BIOS that can be set to boot up with the numlock on.
