    windows 8 PROBLEMS

I had to get a new PC Lenovo I5 because the MB of my old XP customPC broke, I started with dos then w95, 98, 2k, xp, and I never saw such a garbage, Im really tempted to return the MF and get the old sputter fixed.
It just lost several settings that I had to reimpost and is 4 days that I trying to eliminate garbage nobody needs, and trying to find applications everybody needs like the file and folders and my documents and others....
    thanks

Have you upgraded to 8.1? That fixes a few things in 8 and may make it useable, just.

I agree with your general assessment however.

I've been using XYplorer free version as a file management program.

    thanks Fink
the Lenovo came with 8.1 (figure what it was 8)
I downloaded XYplorer but it seems just as messy as 8.1 but with a filer.
just to discover that is a waist of time to use it... it took me half h.
If I got to file my things with that then I need to hire somebody, as I woudnt have no left time to do my things,
it looks like computers are starting to weigh too much on people lives, and people are going to return to simpler things like a book to write on, and a paper to read and a tv and radio and F. the PC. if MS make it so messy that you have to buy OS every other year and individual components every years like MSoffice and what next.
but how come that any windows before 8 it didnt take any time to learn or to use? it use to be so easy.

Win 10 preview, pretty much goes back to what we like.
Win 8.1 is for so called smart phone users.
Since you have 8, when win 10 comes out you will get the win 10 for free.

8 drove me to check out linux so I hit a pc recycle place and picked up a couple laptops and even got a desktop.

    Order with Win7 Toshiba Example:

For geneology work, I use Win 7, Family Tree Maker only is written for Windows and Mac. And a couple other programs I have.

Win 10 Preview is installed on a old Dell Optiplex 755 and has only 2 GB of ram and works just fine.

Win 98 was more trouble. You can use live cd http://livecdlist.com/
or like I do when testing a distro, a boot USB drive I went through a bunch before I settled on AntiX.

Toshiba is my laptop brand of choice and I have no experience with other brands using M$.
They had the best track record for reliability when I got my first one and This , my second one, I bought in Dec of 2007, and it is still on the first battery.

    See if this helps

5 years, I know HP would not write drivers for something that old.

....on calling Samsung chat help I was surprised on how efficient was to fix the installation. They installed a universal driver, as the only choice for a scx4300/ms8.1 combination, and a different more generic and newr app to scan/transfer
    documents.... really impressed.
W£hat im missing now is where to get a software I had named PDF5 that allows to convert a simple PDF doc in one that can be freefaxed via faxzero or freefax
    thanks
