How Do I Disable an Email Account?

I have changed my Outlook 2013 email account from a POP account to IMAP. My ISP did not have IMAP ability until recently, so that is why the POP. So that leaves me with several years of email that I still want access to. And another issue I have is that now I am receiving email from both accounts, the POP as well as the IMAP. They have the same address only thing changed is the IMAP function.

Is there a way to stop the POP account from checking for mail?
This thing has more bugs than a big city flop house.

    From Outlooks HELP File:

Removing a POP3 or IMAP email account doesn't delete the items that were sent and received by using the account. If you were using a POP3 account, you can still use the Outlook Data File (.pst) to work with your items.
    Remove an email account
    1.Click the File tab.

2.Under Account Information, click Account Settings, and then click Account Settings.

Account Settings in the Backstage view

3.Select the email account that you want to remove, and then click Remove.
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.
