copying dvds to external hard drive ?
I have several dvds, these are already burned and i want to load them on to an external hard drive, this is one at a time, by putting them into the pc dvdrom. Am i trying to do something i can't? Can you drag and drop them from there, if so you have to rename each one as you have it on the external drive or you can do it before? Not sure if a title will appear on these until they are opened to play, so how do you drag and drop them to identify them so they are not over written?

Are these video DVDs that you would normally play in a stand-alone DVD player? More info on the DVD type is needed to answer your question.

Probably all able to play on stand alone, as well as pc
The reason for this is to give them to my kids, easier this way, than re burning, except for them to play them on a dvd player, how would they do that being they are on a drive?

Of the ones I have, I mean those I have burned to DVDs, I just copy them to another DVD using two DVD burners.

Dragging/dropping or copy/pasting that type of DVD is not ideal. What I prefer to do is extract the iso image of the DVD and burn/rip it to the hard drive and then play it with one of many players capable of dealing with a DVD iso file.. eg- VLC. That way you keep the entire movie(s) and extras exactly as they are on the DVD itself.
It also makes it easy to re-burn it back to a DVD disk in the future.
VirtualDr email notices are not working.
