What is the best Anti-Adware currently available?
I am often away from home and my kids and wife ultimately use my computer even though they have their own. One of the most irritating things for me is all the stupid adware that pops up on seemingly every page. I'm using Opera as my default browser. I've gone through add and remove programs and removed 2 known adware programs but I can't seem to rid my computer completely of that crap!
I am to the point that I am willing to pay top dollar for an anti-____ program that will rid me of this infestation and future ones that I or my family may accidentally install.
That said, I don't believe the best is always the most expensive.
Please let me know what you think is the best software or method for removing these stupid ads.
Thanks

I think you mean an adblocker. You could try ublock or adblock plus for Opera. You want to block the ads BEFORE they can infect your system.

As for malware, I'd go with Malwarebytes. The free version only does on-demand scans. You'd have to purchase the premium version for active protection.

You could use a program called Sandboxie. It creates a virtual quarantine around the browser, any browser or program you run within it and if someone accidentally installs malware while running within the Sandboxie environment it won't infect the computer once you exit the Sandboxie program.. all will be as it was before the infection. It always returns to the previous state.
You, as always, need the other users of the computer to cooperate and use it properly and there is a bit of a learning curve initially but it's a very effective way to keep a computer clean of malware.
Worth a look here..

Midknyte--
Shouldn't an antivirus program be used along with the free version of MalwareBytes?
I use Microsoft Security Essentials.

Of course. I didn't say to ONLY run MBAM.

I agree with the Sandboxie recommendation. I use it and love it. But, as already pointed out, there is a bit of a learning curve.
Besides adding Malwarebytes, I'd highly, highly recommend adding an additional "Standard" user account to your PC and limit your family to using that account only. "Standard" user accounts don't have the ability to install system-wide programs. That takes "Administrator" privileges.
Is it possible to still have issues? Yes, nothing is perfect! But, problems can only affect the PC with the privileges of the "Standard" user. Much less than serious than running as a full admin.
It's simple to set up. See this tutorial. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...ndows-vista-7/ You can give the account a password or not. That's up to you. If you want to give that account a password, you would still need to give it to your family so they could use the PC.
Then, as your last step, click on your existing "Administrator" account and add a password to it. This password would NOT be shared with the family. This would keep them from accidentally using the admin account when you're not around.
