    malwarebytes anti-malware

Is the malwarebytes anti-malware premium "2.0" 3-user program the most recent version? From what I could find, I don't believe the 2.0 is the most current version? If not, after it is installed, does the program update to the most current version or would it have to purchased instead of buying the 2.0 version?

2.0.4 seems to be the latest version: https://www.malwarebytes.org/support/releasehistory/

After installing the 2.0, can you click update and will it update to the most current version (2.0.4) in the program?

I'm not using ********bytes, so I can't confirm. But, since 2.0.4 is listed on their website as the latest version, I'm pretty sure you'll get the update.

I use malwarebytes freeware and it does update to the most current update. I believe there is a newer version of the freeware available. I guess I should download and install it. Do I need to uninstall my current version prior to installing the newer version?

I just scanned my computer using my malwarebytes program. It found a number of entries that I am unfamiliar what they are and how they got on my computer. Under the vendor column, they all say PUP.optional.mypcbackup.A and the location of all of the entries that it found says it is located in program files/mypcbackup folder. What are these and how did they get there?

    Most come from ad servers.
Why I use FireFox with Ad Block Plus to keep them off my computers.
Plus it sure speeds up surfing.

I had to read this about 5 times. . .
    https://www.malwarebytes.org/pup/

Decided if it fits any of them, I DO NOT want anything to do with them.

Maybe I'm acting blonde but I read that link and still unsure how I got them. How can I remove them? It sounds like they are not needed and slows a system down. I use firefox and have adblock plus but I do use chrome many times also. Perhaps, I got them from using chrome? How should I proceed with these entries that my malwarebytes found?

Was MyPCBackup something that you intentionally installed? Do you use it? If the answer to both questions is no, then it was likely someting that piggybacked with something else that you did intentionaly install. You often have to watch the installation options closely, and/or make sure to select the Custom option when installing software, or you can get garbageware programs installed as well as the program you actually wanted. Downloading legitimate software from soures other than the software creator/publisher can also get you potentially unwanted programs.

Hi, JDC2000. I didn't install it and don't even know what it is. If it is a program, how could I don't see it listed when I open revo uninstaller? How should I proceed to get rid of it?

As others already said, you didn't intentionnaly installed this software, it was silently installed while you were installing some other piece of software.

I downloaded and ran ADWcleaner, then junkware removal tool, then updated my malwarebytes by downloading the most current version and ran it. Then ran hitmanpro. Then I reran malwarebytes and it didn't find any mypc backup entries after doing a scan. So I guess they were removed.

Are adwcleaner, junkware reomoval tool, and hitmanpro good programs to run on a regular basis in addition to malwarebytes?
