Resolved [RESOLVED] mac book pro popups

My grandson 22 has a mac book pro and is getting popups he says. He ran some online "scan" today and found possibly infections. But he has never had an issue in 4 years. What program is available for use for scan and removals?

Eset 30 day trial is what I used.
It found pages and pages of stuff.

Ccleaner has a Mac version that cleans up real well'

After the clean up Eset was uninstalled.

He needs to update Safari and his OS. Most likely free.

When i run Ccleaner on win 7, under applications, when there are checks in the boxes, does that delete all content from those applications?
There are categories under firefox, multimedia, internet, applications, utilities, windows. i can't itemize them all without taking a clip of them. So does it delete all content that is under each of them? Or are there things it looks for?

What is checked, get deleted. But stay away from the regs.

    Some tutorials on using ccleaner.

    will look at that.

Applications. is any thing you have processed under the items listed, so in essence any multimedia MsWord etc document would be deleted?

RegEdit has a check in it, tahe it out? I did not put it there.

Take it out. Leave the regs alone. Those who use reg cleaners usually end up doing a clean install. Been there and done that.

Why I recommend and use TFC by old timer instead. As it leaves cookies alone too.
A much safer program to use by anyone.

TFC does not install, it runs from where ever you have it.
Been running it for about 6 years now.
