Resolved [RESOLVED] Internet connection with Linux Mint 10 problem

I have Windows7 on a Dell all in one desktop. I have cable internet with a wireless Router. If I download a Linux Mint 10,
how will I configure an internet connection? I installed an older Linux from a CD but couldn't connect to internet. I wish to download a recent version of Linux and need to know how to connect to internet with it. Any help appreciated

    Get mint 17.1 Rebecca
The team is proud to announce the release of Linux Mint 17.1 “Rebecca” Cinnamon.
    http://www.linuxmint.com/
This version more than likely has the drivers needed for your nic.
Now are you wired or wireless? OOPS see the wireless in your post so i will use a laptop.

I will download that and use unetbootin-windows-585.exe, http://sourceforge.net/projects/unet...Netbootin/585/ to make a bootable thumb drive I will be getting the 64 bit version.
Thumb drives are lots faster than DVD s As the download is 1.4 GB.
And you can save to the thumb drive where you can NOT save to the dvd disk.

I download the ISO and use these instructions to make the thumb drive . I make sure the ISO and unetbootin are in the same folder.

If that is a Toshiba Laptop, the drivers for the nic should be there.

Right click the icon between the head and speaker in the bottom right.

    Select your router
    Enter password
I am posting using the thumb drive I made.
I am on the internet as the attachment shows.

I have a Dell all in one with Windows7OS I installed LInux from a CD. In booting up I'm given choice of which to boot up with. I don't see the Icon that shows signal strength in bottom right conrner. I'll go through the info given in these replies and post back probably tomorrow and thanks to all responders very much

Well it is hard to see, so click between the 2 as I noted.

The signal strength showed up after I logged onto my router.

Best version of Mint I have messed with so far.

Thanks Train for the info. I am still unable to make any progress. However I saw a used Laptop with LinusOS adversised for Approx. $200. I have decided to follow this approach for a LinusOS and save my main PC from alterations. Thanks very much for all the info and responses. I have received help from this Forum many times. I will mark this thread as Solved
