question about hiding your ip address.. if you know maybe you can advise..
I bought a years subscription with hotspot shield along with their Elite subscription this allows me along with my other monthly subscription for Netflicks I can view the american menu of movies along with also viewing some you tube sites that can and will detect if i am out of the country of the usa ., this shield allows me to see the fun videos that we all get a enjoyment out of ..
Now both CBC and NBC has streaming videos of their TV shows .. and this also allows me to watch last nights David Letterman .. or Jimmy Fallon .. Hooray .. ! ... BUT .. there is a new IP sheriff in town and that is: ABC
ABC has put further filters in to place that won't allow Non Americans ( canada) to see their TV lineup.. I really wanted to see last fridays 'Last Man Standing' ... NBC and CBS yes .. but ABC NO ...
Why would ABC put further restraints on keeping their TV lineup within the usa borders .. Canada is essentially a good neighbor of the USA and not an oversea threat ..
also if you check IMDB movie release dates you'll never see Canada listed as it gets the same release dates as USA therefore doesn't qualify..
Is IP address's a concern in your neck of the woods down south of me .... and north of me...???
Americans have it so good.. or did you not know ..?

It's all about copyright laws and contractual obligations. Rights lawyers, politicians, advertisers, writers, producers.. blah blah blah all have a stake and a say one way or another on what we Canadians and others can watch, use, listen to from other countries. So while some are restricting those options others are trying to open things up and circumvent those restrictions.
The open uppers aren't winning as you're finding out. Big money lobbyists are winning and that's why we can't watch things like the Comedy Channel or US network tv shows or most sports events etc etc on line.
My brother spends winters in Florida and can't watch his favorite Canadian shows online in the US so I suppose in one way things even out. We all lose.
VirtualDr email notices are not working.

I use IE11 on Win 7. At the top right of the IE screen is a gear icon. If I click on that|click Safety| click In Private Browsing, my IP address is hidden. Does that help?
Also I think you can use a US-based proxy to make it seem that you are in the US.
https://www.google.com/search?q=us-based+proxy
However, I do not use them and cannot vouch for their safety or whether there are any legal considerations.

Can't remember where I read it but at least a few media companies are getting serious about blocking non-USA access. They are assuming (wrongly of course!) that all VPN traffic is being used to bypass country restrictions.
One of companies (again, I can't remember who) collected a bunch of IP adresses of VPNs and passed them along to several other media companies. So now, many of them have all they need to block access from any VPN user...
Here's an article that's relevant...

And speaking of laws and rules - discussions on how to bypass this situation is against VirtualDr's rules.
