[RESOLVED] Error message when I insert USB thumb drive.
See pic. This just started happening with all thumb drives when I insert them into my W8.1 tablet. I can still access the drive and any files on them when I close the error message. Doesn't matter if there are any files on the USB drive or not.
I formatted one to make sure there were no hidden files or run commands just to see if that made a difference but it does not. I still get this message.
Any ideas?
I have to say, one more time, that I really do not like Windows 8.x. I keep getting strange, difficult to search for errors... none are show stoppers (yet) but are quite aggravating none-the-less.

Disable Autoplay for removable devices. You can do this from control panel/autoplay.
If you want to do it from the modern ui. Charms bar/Settings/PC Settings/PC & Devices/Autoplay
BTW What tablet do you have?

That was it. I had uninstalled Dropbox a few days ago and the default autoplay choice wasn't automatically reset to "open" so it was looking for the missing Dropbox application when I inserted the USB key.

Great.
Windows 8, except for a few things, is very similar to windows 7. The big problem is that having to get used to a totally different interface. Pretty much, all the tools which were available in windows 7 are still there in windows 8 and 8.1
