    Blank DVDs

I'd like to copy some old VHS tapes onto DVD using the Roxio program but I have no idea what type or brand of DVDs to get.

    Anybody got any recommendations?

I am running Windows 8 on a Toshiba laptop.

    Thanks.

I normal used +R disks. My burner handled them better than -R disks and my dvd players handled them just fine.

The players are usually the hang up for using +Rs.

I don't make many DVD's these days but when I did I tried to always use Verbatim brand whenever I wanted best quality for things like backups and important data.

VirtualDr email notices are not working.

Ok, I will look for some +R.

I know next to nothing about this!

    Thanks for both replies.

Verbatim or TDK only brands I used. Had to many bad burns with other brands and hate wasting my money.

I have copied many DVDs and have used different brands, since most of them are manufactured only by 2 or 3 companies. Verbatim and TDK are good brands,I have also used HPs and SONYs.
I only use -R DVDs,because they work best with most DVD player, +R are very unpredictable.
Good Luck, and let us know, which one works best for you!

    Thanks for the response.

I bought some Philips DVD+R and have managed to copy about 20 minutes of tape. When I tried to go longer the Roxio program stopped responding, toward the end.

Thought I could use the +R type more than once but seems I can't write over them.

Well, at least I got the couple of tapes I really wanted copied, just have about 40 DVDs left over!

You might try using different software for the copy process.

DVD+R and DVD -R are one time use only.

Save the video to your hdd, then burn it after Roxio program is finished with the tape.

    What worked for me.
