Send emails at a future time

Can anyone suggest an app -- preferably a free one -- that would allow me to send email messages to addressees at a specific future time? For example, to send myself reminders of future events or to send birthday greetings at the appropriate times.

You did not specify what e-mail system, program, or provider you are wanting to use. There are a variety of methods available. Some e-mail providers or applications already have that capability.

Might also consider the 100's upon 100's of Calendar programs.

My smart phone calendar option makes noises....displays I have a calendar event and sends myself an email from my gmail account.... My gmail account is also set up to forward mails to my main home email account. In theory, I only miss events that I don't remember to setup.
