Yup. It's most likely a bad hard drive. I hope she has backups of her data.

First thing would be to save any data you can. External USB hard drive or a flash drive. Whatever you can get.

You need to determine what brand of hard drive it has first. Western Digital, Seagate, etc. You can look in Device Manager and post the Hard Drive model number here.

What OS is on that laptop? Win7? Win8?

    That's a Seagate drive.

You should use the Seatools boot disc, not the Windows diags. You'lll need to burn the .iso file to a CD (instructions in the link). All signs are pointing to a bad drive, though.

Run the short test first. If that fails, then it's time to replaced the drive.

If the short test passes, run the long/extended test. If that fails, replace the drive.

Thank you for this. I need to ask since she said she spoke with a friend earlier that is a tech and he told her the less she writes onto the harddrive the longer it will last for her what your thoughts were on this?

So my question is if she downloads this will it end the life of the computer now?
    Thank you.

If the drive is failing (likely), then the longer it runs, the less life it has left. If there are critical files on it that need to be recovered, then you may want to make that the first priority. If it won't boot, removing the drive from the laptop and connecting it to another computer may allow the files to be copied before the drive dies completely.

If the drive fails the tests copy anything you don't want to lose and replace the drive.

She can and has moved the files. We are looking at computers/laptops now but frankly with all I spent already on her birthday/Christmas presents there isn't money to get what she is looking at. She needs a laptop that can do renderings and editing videos so her desktop wont have to. If she can play some games great she said but mostly need for editing and rendering the videos she needs to put up on her channel. Anyone have any suggestions?
    Thank you

There is no way to know exactly how long the drive will last. That's why I said to get the data off first.

Replacing the drive would be a lot less expensive than a new laptop.
